A major sponsor of the Slovenian Olympic team, SIJ – Slovenian Steel Group also supports projects and activities organized by the Sports for All Committee of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia. Well aware of the importance of spending quality free time, we signed an agreement during last year's Sports for All Conference, undertaking to build a total of eleven outdoor training ranges in collaboration with the OCS by 2018.
The first training range was built by the SIJ Group, Acroni and the OCS in the Podmežakla sports park in Jesenice. The SIJ Group President of the Management Board, Anton Chernykh, the General Director of Acroni, Blaž Jasnič, the first OCS President, Janez Sodržnik, and the Mayor of the Jesenice Municipality, Tomaž Tom Mencinger, attended the opening.
A particular highlight of the event was the exercises on the training range demonstrated by Mitja Petkovšek, a former champion gymnast, Jan Ribnikar, a member of the Slovenian street workout team, and Jernej Slivnik, a disabled skier who proved that disability is no obstacle to doing sports.
The SIJ Group and Acroni both place great emphasis on active and healthy ways of spending free time. We believe that the new training range will provide the perfect venue to do just that, appealing to sports enthusiasts and total beginners alike.
