Pivka, 1. 6. 2021 - As part of the cooperation between SIJ Group and the Olympic Committee of Slovenia – Association of Sports Federations, and with the support of the local community, we officially opened a steel outdoor training station in Pivka – the first one of this year. The new steel acquisition, located at the Pivka Primary School, has been available to sports enthusiasts already since last September. The training station also has an Olympic ambassador – Tina Jakovina, a member of the national basketball team.
The start of the steel training station project dates back to 2014 when SIJ Group decided that it wants to contribute to the communities where its companies are located and where its employees live with their families, as well as to other local communities across Slovenia, and enable people of all ages and physical fitness levels to enjoy free outdoor recreation.By installing the training stations, SIJ Group wants to awaken the mind of steel within all people, and remind them at the same time of how ubiquitous and timeless steel is. It is the only material in the world that can be 100% recycled over and over again without it losing its properties.
The steel outdoor training station in Pivka is the 14th station to be installed as part of the "steel" project of SIJ Group and the umbrella sports organization. By the end of 2022, we will have installed six more training stations (three each year) as part of this cooperation. The training station, which consists of 86 meters of steel tubes and was manufactured by SIJ Acroni, has an Olympic ambassador – Tina Jakovina, a member of the national basketball team. The children from the Mavrica Kindergarten, the Pike Sports Association and the Pivka Primary School were the first to try out the training station. The audence was greeted by Robert Smrdelj, the mayor of Pivka, Taja Škorc, director of sports for everyone and sports at local level at OCS – ASF, and Tomo Tiringer, head of the regional office of OCS – ASF.
